What is Seagrass?

Seagrass are the only type of flowering plants capable of living entirely beneath the sea surface. Although they are often confused with seaweed, biologically they are different. Seaweed belongs to the algae group, while seagrasses are true plants that have roots, stems, and leaves, and are capable of flowering, producing fruit, and generating seeds.

About Us

Seagrass Indonesia is a dedicated community committed to preserve and protect seagrass meadows as a vital part of coastal ecosystems. We believe that small, consistent actions can create a significant impact on the environment. Through a science-based and collaborative approach, we strive to raise awareness about the crucial role of seagrass in climate change mitigation. We work alongside communities, researchers, and stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions. Our efforts focus on education, research, and conservation actions to ensure a thriving marine ecosystem for future generations. Together, we can drive positive change for our planet.
